The Truth About Network Marketing Leads
If you knew the truth about the network marketing leads you are buying from lead generation companies you'd never buy a single lead again.
Most lead generating companies are scams set up to harvest email addresses from Free Classified and FFA sites and take your money.
Even legitimate lead generation companies "trick" net surfers into opting in to their lists. They then have a name and an email address they can sell over and over again to the unsuspecting network marketer.
The Tricks
What are the tricks used by a majority of these lead generation companies?
Have you ever seen all those pop-ups that tell you you've won something you didn't even register for?
You should click on a few of them, if you never have, and see what you get. Many times you are promised a $50 gift certificate or a free DVD player or a mini-vacation or some deal for giving away your personal information.
Once you get to the point you have given them all of your personal info you are presented with a screen that has 30 boxes checked for you to receive all sorts of "special offers". And some of those "special offers" are you requesting more info on home based business opportunities. If you don't un-check those boxes you are going to get all sorts of phone calls and spam that you supposedly asked for.
Is That Any Way to Generate A Lead?
Really, is that any way to generate network marketing leads or any other leads for that matter. Is this what your work-at-home business is based on?
Go ahead and buy a phone list of 1000 names and email addresses and see if you even get 5% of the people you call or load into your autoresponder to have a clue as to what you are talking about.
There are hundreds of thousands of people on the internet looking for a home based business opportunity. But you will never come into contact with those people unless you know a little secret. The secret is in the first sentence of this paragraph.
Go back and read the first sentence of the last paragraph again...
That's right, they are looking, for a home based business opportunity.
Seth Godin, former President of Direct Marketing for Yahoo, would call pop-ups and 90% of what's called marketing on the internet, interruption marketing.
By the way, Seth wrote a terrific book entitled Purple Cow about doing something remarkable with your product and marketing, instead of interrupting people.
Let's face it, who really wants to be interrupted all the time with constant pop-ups and in your face marketing. NOBODY, except the person who wants to win the free DVD player mentioned earlier.
And they certainly aren't interested in your business opportunity. They are interested in the FREE DVD player. Again, this makes for terrible network marketing leads, except for the lead generation companies, who sell that lousy lead to you and me.
That's right, I'm guilty of buying thousands of these leads myself. Just take it from my experience, don't do it yourself!
But some of those network marketing leads are scrubbed and called on the phone by a lead sorter and they tell the lead sorter they really are looking for something. Yes they are, but they probably aren't looking for what you've got. They aren't specific to your opportunity.
The Key is Finding Those That Are Looking
That's right, you have to find those that are looking for a home based business opportunity. These are good network marketing leads.
So, how do you find those that are looking?
How do you find something on the internet? That's right, it's pretty basic, you look for the information you are interested in by using a search engine. Eighty percent of what is found on the internet is found by using search engines.
It's not done through banner ads, pop-ups, and spyware. And it certainly isn't done through spam. No, No, No...
So, the big secret is, find the people that are looking for what you have.
If you have a website, the best way for someone to find your site is for it to be on the first page of the search results your potential customer or lead just brought up on their computer. The only way to do that is to learn how to drive traffic to your site via the search engines.
If you don't have a website, you need to use the networking power of the web to generate warm, willing-and-wanting-to-talk-to-you prospects... people who will call or email you, not the other way around.
If you want to succeed at network marketing you absolutely must produce your own leads. By the way, producing your own network marketing leads is very do-able.
You have a unique story, you have a perspective on your company that lead generation companies just don't have. Only you can truly tell your audience about your products and opportunity.
