What is the Best Business Opportunity?
I'm NOT going to tell you I have the best business opportunity available. That would be hype and I don't like hype. There are plenty of great business opportunities around.
America is the land of opportunity, you just have to find the right one.
So, if you're going to start a home based business, you do want good information as to what makes a good business.
So, What Makes for a Good Home Based Business?
Three of the biggest considerations when looking at a business opportunity today are the product, timing, and ease of getting started.
Several years ago one of the best business opportunities around was the Tupperware business. The resealable plastic container was a revolutionary idea and probably 95% of the people you know still have some kind of Tupperware in their kitchen.
But who would want to be in the Tupperware business today. You can buy every conceivable kind of plastic food container at the local discount store for much cheaper. That doesn't sound like a business opportunity on the cutting edge.
I used to be in the Big A Soap Company, okay it was Amway, and I sold a box of soap and made $6, BIG DEAL! Another "me to" product that everybody already has.
"Me Too" Products Are Not Cutting Edge
Just think of all the network marketing companies that all have "me to" products commonly referred to as lotions and potions. Don't get me wrong, there are some fine products offered by network marketing companies, and it is important to have a line of consumable products, but who wants to drive around town all day delivering $10 boxes of soap or $5 tubes of lipstick. Forget it!
The problem with many network marketing companies and these "me too" products is that nobody makes any money in retail, and for the new person, you have to make money in retail. When the profit on your top selling item is $5 or $6 you have to sell a ton of that product to make any money.
Of course the point is to recruit other distributors to move your product so you don't have to do all the work. But still, when you sell a $10 product you have to move a lot of that product through a lot of distributors to make it work.
When I was in the Big A Soap Company, everyone that I was associated with stayed at the same level, never moving up in the organization and never really making any money.
What excited me about the business opportunity I'm with now is that I saw people I knew making money and earning bonus cars after being in the business for a little over a year.
